Community & Neighbourhood Guide Writer
Sofia Al Rashidi grew up in Jumeirah at a time when the neighbourhood was still defined by low-rise villas and a Saturday morning fish market. She watched the city grow district by district — the emergence of Dubai Marina in the early 2000s, the construction of Downtown, the steady urbanisation of Al Quoz — and turned that lived knowledge into a writing career focused entirely on helping people understand where they actually want to live.
Her area guides for ting.ad go beyond the glossy developer brochure. Sofia visits each neighbourhood on foot, catalogues the supermarkets and pharmacies within walking distance, interviews local parents about school catchment realities, and maps public transport connections that matter to residents who do not drive. She is equally at home writing about the established community feel of Mirdif as she is unpacking the emerging infrastructure of Jumeirah Village Circle or the creative energy settling into Al Serkal Avenue.
Sofia studied Geography and Urban Studies at the American University of Sharjah and completed fieldwork on Dubai’s planned neighbourhood model. She believes that a good area guide should answer the questions a relocation agent would ask on your behalf — traffic patterns at 8 am, the nearest emergency clinic, whether there is a decent park for weekend mornings — not just the postcode and the square-foot price.
